Joana Loewis, geboren 1996 in München, studiert seit 2019 an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste München bei Prof. Jorinde Voigt, Pola Sieverding, Prof. Johanna Reich und seit 2021 bei Prof. Gregor Hildebrandt. „Loewis klopft der realen Welt Bilder aus dem Bauch, ringt der Leinwand, dem Papier jeweils neue Formen ab und schöpft aus dem Schaum der Brandung auch Wort- folgen und Wogen aus Pigmenten. Die eher dunkle Farbpalette der Gemälde assoziiert Küsten, Meer, Übergangslichter. Mitteilen als Teilen. Gemälde aus selbstgewonnen Pigmenten, Pigmente gewinnen, Pigmente abscheiden, auch hier die Scheidung, Entscheidung und Zugang gestatten ... Und noch mal, dem Pathos sei hier durchaus eine gewisse Wahrheit zugestanden.

Joana Loewis, born in 1996 in Munich, has been studying at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich since 2019 under Prof. Jorinde Voigt, Pola Sieverding, Prof. Johanna Reich, and since 2021 under Prof. Gregor Hildebrandt. “Loewis extracts images from the belly of the real world, wrestles new forms from the canvas and paper, and draws from the foam of the surf sequences of words and waves of pigments. The rather dark color palette of the paintings evokes coasts, the sea, and transitional lights. Communication as sharing. Paintings from selfproduced pigments, winning pigments, separating pigments, here too the separation, decision and granting access... And again, a certain truth is admitted to the pathos here.”
