Baustellen, unfertige Häuser, architektonische Oberflächen, Baustoffe, Material- lager, ein in den Fokus Setzten von sichtbarem Verstecktem sind zentrale Ausgangspunkte der künstlerischen Analyse von Paula Hoffmann. Durch eine intensive Beobachtung der sie umgebenden Bebauung entdeckt sie in dem scheinbar banalen ein intensives Spannungsfeld zwischen Fragilität und Stabilität. Mit ihren Zeichnungen und Objekten kommentiert sie das Temporäre, das sich im Aufbau Befindende, die Wirkung baulicher Veränderung. Paula Hofmanns Arbeiten scheinen im ersten Moment wie eine Reproduktion, Wiedergaben eines real Existieren- den, entpuppen sich in der weiteren Betrachtung jedoch als feine Übersetzung, die sich mit Fragen nach Sicherheitskonstrukten der Psyche, der Stabilität und der Materialität beschäftigt.

Construction sites, unfinished houses, architectural surfaces, building materials, material stores, a focus on the visible hidden are central starting points of Paula Hoffmann‘s artistic analysis. Through an observation of the constructional surrounding, she discovers an intense field of tension between fragility and stability. With her drawings and objects she comments on the temporary, on what is constructed, the impact of architectural modifications. At first blush, Paula Hofmann‘s works appear to be reproductions, replicas of something physically real, in further observation they turn out to be delicate reflections that explore questions of the security constructs of the psyche, stability, and materiality.
