Louisa Clement (*1987) studierte an der Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe und der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf und war Meisterschülerin des bekannten Fotografen Andreas Gursky. Die deutsche Künstlerin beschäftigt sich in Fotografien, Videos, Wandarbeiten, Skulpturen und neuen VR Arbeiten mit dem Gefühl einer Irritation in Zeiten politischer und gesellschaftlicher Unsicherheit. Ausgangspunkt ist der Mensch in einem digitalen Zeitalter, in dem auch die Integrität des Körpers durch vehemente Eingriffe der Medizin und Technik zunehmend in Frage gestellt wird.

The photographs, videos, wall works, sculptures and new VR works of Louisa Clement are concerned with phenomena of the sense of confusion in times of political and societal uncertainty. Louisa Clement’s varied investigations into everyday design prove to be seductive yet unfathomable: What is it to be human in a digital age in which even the integrity of the body is increasingly called into question by invasive medical interventions?
