Katharina Arndt (*1981 in Oschatz) lebt und arbeitet in Berlin und Barcelona und studierte an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig. Sie ist eine zeitgenössische Künstlerin aus Deutschland, die in den Medien Malerei, Zeichnung und Lichtinstallation arbeitet. Ihre schnellen und farbenfrohen Bilder ironisieren die zeitgenössische Massenkonsumästhetik einer dekadenten Überflussgesellschaft, indem sie ihren Alltag im digitalen Zeitalter abbildet. Sinnbild hierfür ist das Thema ‚Oberfläche‘ – sozial, kulturell, materiell. In der hyperrealen und zugleich immateriellen Onlinewelt dominiert allein das visuelle Erscheinungsbild – von uns selbst und den Produkten, die wir kaufen sollen. In ihren Wortkunstwerken in Neonbuchstaben, figurativen Zeichnungen und Gemälden visualisiert sie die Ästhetik des Massenkonsums im digitalen Zeitalter und rekontextualisiert durch ihre Beobachtung des digitalen Kommunikationsverhaltens ihre Umgebung und Umwelt.
Ihre Arbeiten wurden bereits in zahlreichen Galerien und Museen in Europa ausgestellt, wie zum Beispiel in der Saatchi Gallery (London), im Museum Villa Rot (Burgrieden) und im Kunstverein (Hannover).
Katharina Arndt (*1981 in Oschatz) lives and works in Berlin and Barcelona and studied at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig, Germany. She is a contemporary artist working in painting, drawing and light installation. Her fast and colourful paintings ironize the contemporary mass consumption aesthetic of a decadent affluent society by depicting their everyday life in the digital age. Emblematic of this is the theme of ‘surface’ – social, cultural, material. In the hyperreal and at the same time immaterial online world, the visual appearance alone dominates – of ourselves and the products we are supposed to buy. In her word artworks in neon letters, figurative drawings and paintings, she visualizes the aesthetics of mass consumption in the digital age and recontextualizes her surroundings and environment through her observation of digital communication behaviour.
Her works have been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums in Europe, such as the Saatchi Gallery (London), Museum Villa Rot (Burgrieden), Kunstverein (Hannover).
