Joana Loewis, geboren 1996 in München, studiert seit 2019 an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste München bei Prof. Jorinde Voigt, Pola Sieverding, Prof. Johanna Reich und seit 2021 bei Prof. Gregor Hildebrandt. „.. Nur dir Natur ergeb ich mich / Und meinen Hunger all meinen Durst / Und bitte nähre mich tränke mich / Nichts und wieder nichts verschafft mir Illusionen / Den Eltern wie der Sonne zugelacht …“, Arthur Rimbaud. Ein Ausschnitt aus einem Gedicht, ein Anruf an die Kraft des Seins. So einfach als Wunsch und Lebensform, so oft wiederholt und wo, wann, wem abgerungen? Es ist die Wiederholung eines Anrufens des Existentiellen, die einem eine Erlaubnis zum Pathos erteilt. Loewis klopft der realen Welt Bilder aus dem Bauch, ringt der Leinwand, dem Papier, jeweils neue Formen ab, und schöpft aus dem Schaum der Brandung auch Wortfolgen und Wogen aus Pigmenten. Die eher dunkle Farbpalette der Gemälde assoziieren Küsten, Meer, Übergangslichter. Mitteilen als Teilen. Gemälde aus selbstgewonnen Pigmenten, Pigmente gewinnen, Pigmente abscheiden, auch hier die Scheidung, Entscheidung, und Zugang gestatten… Und noch mal, dem Pathos sei hier durchaus eine gewisse Wahrheit zugestanden. An excerpt from a poem, a call to the power of being. So simple as a wish and way of life, so often repeated and where, when, from whom wrested? It is the repetition of a call to the existential that grants one a permission to pathos. Loewis wrests images from the belly of the real world, wrestles new forms from the canvas, the paper, and draws word sequences and waves of pigments from the foam of the surf. The rather dark color palette of the paintings associates coasts, sea, transitional lights. To communicate as sharing. Paintings made from selfmade pigments, obtaining pigments, separating pigments, here too the separation, decision, and granting access… And once again, pathos is indeed granted a certain truth here.
